KASEY SAVES GREENS

- By David Ballheimer

HENDON pulled off their great escape when this draw gave them 22 points out of the last 30 to finish one place above safety.

They made a great start when Sam Murphy’s 25-yard shot was brilliantly saved by Swans keeper Jack Turner.

But two minutes later Staines’ Mo Bettamer smashed the ball into the bottom corner giving Greens keeper Tom Lovelock no chance.

In the 11th minute Lovelock saved another Bettamer effort. But Hendon had most of the pressure and most of the chances.

Kezie Ibe hit the outside of a post after 25 minutes and Matt Ball’s fantastic drive crashed off the insider of the same upright but bounced to safety.

Straight after half-time Hendon equalised, Kasey Maclaren powering a header past Turner’s drive.

The game rather died after that with both teams satisfied with a point.

That said Hendon’s Khale DaCosta hit the outside of the post in the 80th minute.

At the other end, with five minutes to go, Staines’ Adrian Clifton drilled a free-kick straight into Lovelock’s midriff.

Hendon had four minutes of stoppage time to survive and held on with few alarms.
