BOGNOR REGIS 1 MET POLICE 1

- By Liam Goodley

WILL SALMON’S 70thminute equaliser for Met Police destroyed Bognor’s title hopes as the Rocks needed to win to have any chance of top spot.

Jimmy Muitt’s 58th-minute goal gave the hosts title hopes as Havant were being frustrated at Kingstonian. But Salmon’s intervention left the South Coast side one point short of the Hawks’ pre-match total.

Bognor had plenty of opportunities in the first half but were denied either by wasteful finishing, Met keeper Brannon Daly or the crossbar.

James Fraser’s 37th-minute looping header struck the frame of the goal with Daly beaten.

At the other end, Rocks keeper Dan Lincoln denied Ollie Robinson on 12 minutes.

Bognor took the lead when Muitt received the ball from Doug Tuck and smashed it high into the top right corner.

However, their lead lasted only 13 minutes.

Met Police equalised on 71 minutes when Salmon pounced on a neat cross from the left and the ball squirmed under Lincoln and into the net.

And despite their inevitable late onslaught, Bognor were unable to find the one goal required to avoid the play-offs.
