RELEGATION FOR HARROW

- By Terry Lynes

LOWESTOFT ended the season in style with a victory that sent Harrow Borough down.

Lowestoft controlled the first half with some attractive flowing football and took the lead on the half-hour mark as standin full back Dominic Docherty rose high at the near post to head Ryan Jarvis’s left-wing corner into the net.

Harrow Borough came much more into the game in the second period, forcing numerous corners but found the Lowestoft defence resolute despite missing both regular centre backs through suspension.

Lowestoft still looked the more likely to score and doubled their lead in the 56th minute. Shaun Bammant received the ball on the left and from his cross Nico Cotton’s shot was parried by keeper Brendan Hazlett but Jamie Forshaw pounced to drive the ball back into the net.

Harrow battled gamely to the end but their best chance fell to substitute Alex Lafleur, but his close-range effort was parried by keeper Jake Jessup and his follow up effort was blocked by the body of man of the match Docherty.

After a troubled season Lowestoft finish in a satisfactory 11th place.
