WINGATE & F 0 DULWICH HAM 3

- By Andy Gerlis

DULWICH HAMLET confirmed their third-place finish while Wingate made the play-offs thanks to results elsewhere on a thrilling final day.

Wingate controlled much of the first half and the best chance to break the deadlock fell to Rob Laney.

Meeting a cross with his head six yards out, somehow Preston Edwards was able to turn it over the bar to deny the hosts.

Nyren Clunis then blasted a cross into Wingate’s area but nobody was able to get a decisive touch.

Nathan Green and Reece BecklesRichards had penalty claims waved away at either end, but it was goalless at half-time.

The first chance of the second half fell to Ibra Sekajja and he took it excellently.

Within a minute of the restart the striker had rounded Shane Gore and rolled the opening goal into an empty net.

He could have doubled his – and Dulwich’s – tally a minute later but Gore did brilliantly to palm his low, rolling drive away from goal.

But the pressure told and when Clunis broke away down the right on the hour mark, Sekajja was able to tap in his low cross for 2-0.

Panutche Camara’s first-time, strike in the 74th minute sealed matters. But, thanks to Enfield’s draw with Leiston, Wingate scraped the fifth and final play-off spot for the first time in their history.
