CROASDALE RULES THE BIG STAGE
RYAN CROASDALE was likened to Spanish midfield maestro Andres Iniesta by boss Paul Fairclough.
The Kidderminster Harriers man put in two impressive performances for his country and Fairclough will no doubt be keeping a close eye on his form at the start of next season.
Croasdale made the most of his first experience away with the national side and is determined to get more opportunities next season.
“I’ve really enjoyed it,” Croasdale said. “I played 90 minutes in both games – my legs were a bit sore in the second one – but it’s been a really good experience.
“At Kidderminster we play a similar style and I like to get on the ball to keep the team ticking over, especially playing in a midfield three which suits me, so it’s been good.
“It means a lot to wear the England shirt. It was a fast tempo, both opposition were good sides, but it definitely means that bit more.
“It’s a great group of lads. I feel like we’ve known each other for six or seven months. I’m hoping to keep playing well for Kidderminster and hopefully get that call-up again.”
The 22-year-old joined Kiddy last summer following a successful trial at the start of last season.
“I didn’t have anything throughout last summer,” said the former Pre- ston and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder. “I was training at Morecambe for a bit and then got offered a trial at Kiddy. I got offered non-contract, played one game and got offered a deal.
“I had a little boy on the way so it was a bit of a scary time and you don’t know what’s going to happen. But I managed to get a chance at Kidderminster and I’ve done well.
“I probably should have got out and played games a lot sooner really.
“The gaffer (John Eustace) and everyone have put faith in me and the club is going in the right direction.
“The league will be even tougher next season but we’ve got to make sure we stay with our same beliefs.”
