EXPERIENCED LOWE IS FREE TO LEAVE KIDDY AND OPEN TO OFFERS
KEITH LOWE has issued a comeand-get-me plea to National League clubs after being told he can leave Kidderminster Harriers on a free.
The 31-year-old former York City centre-back left behind a glittering Football League career to join Kiddy in January 2016, helping the club to second place in National League North, only to be edged out in the playoffs by Chorley.
But after boss John Eustace met with his management team at Aggborough to discuss plans for the new season, the experienced defender was told he was free to seek a move elsewhere.
And Lowe, who was selected in last season’s National League North team of the season, as voted for by managers, believes he still has something to offer at National League level, or even above!
“I still think I’m worth a shot in the Football League,” he told The NLP. “I dropped out of the league to join Kiddy and I feel like I’ve got more knowhow in my game now.
“Being told I was free to find a new club was a bit of a shock to be honest, but that’s football. People are paid to make decisions and he [John Eustace] has chosen to go down another route. That’s
fine, it happens, there are no hard feelings at all and I wish the club every success.
“I loved my time at Kidderminster and I’m sad to leave but at the same time I am also looking forward to a new chapter in my career.
“As of yet, there has been nothing concrete, just a few calls and texts, but I need to sit down and think about my next move and what’s best for me and my family. I won’t be saying no to anything at the moment.”
Of his decision to allow Lowe to leave, Eustace said: “Keith and I had a discussion after the season finished. I’d made a decision and explained to Keith that he had our permission to explore other options and, if need be, was able to leave on a free transfer.”
Lowe remains under contract at Aggborough and Eustace insists the door is not closed on him.
He added: “If Keith does stay with us then it goes without saying he’d be welcomed back and treated exactly the same way as I do all my players.”
