-

ALFRETON TOWN have snapped up an FA Vase hero with Brody Robertson making the jump to the National League North club. Striker Robertson helped guide Cleethorpes Town to Wembley while also firing 30 goals as the side earned promotion to the Evo-Stik NPL Division One South. He has joined Alfreton on a one-year deal and boss John McDermott said: “He is a natural goal scorer; he has excellent feet and thinks intelligently.” FORMER England U19 international Jack Sampson will ply his trade in the National League North next season having signed for Southport. Striker Sampson, 19, joins the club on a free transfer after his release by Macclesfield Town. The former Bolton man has also had spells at Morecambe and Accrington, while netting six goals in seven games on loan at Chorley last season. JIMMY DACK has been named as the new manager of Whitehawk, with fans’ favourite Sergio Torres leaving the south-coast side. Dack, a former Brentford, Aldershot and Crawley Town midfielder, fills the role recently left by the man he was assistant to, Andy Woodman. Midfielder Torres has left the Enclosed Ground and swiftly been picked up by fellow National League South side Eastbourne Borough. ALEX Pike has made a trio of signings as he builds a new squad at Gosport Borough with Matt Buse, Jack Breed and Aston Leigh all joining. Midfielder Buse moves to Gosport from Taunton Town having previously been selected for the England U19 Futsal squad while Breed is a product of the Borough academy. Leigh can play anywhere on the left-side and joins Pike’s side from Salisbury. YORK CITY defender Shaun Rooney has left Bootham Crescent to join Scottish Championship side Queen of the South on a one-year deal. Young full-back Rooney, 20, signed for the Minstermen from Dunfermline Athletic at the start of last season, going on to make 30 appearances in the National League, scoring once, and helping Gary Mills’ men win the FA Trophy. NEWLY-RELEGATED North Ferriby United have continued their re-build with the signings of Jake Picton and Bobby Johnson. Picton, 26, joins the Villagers from Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South side Frickley Athletic having also turned out for Harrogate Town and Gainsborough Trinity. And he is joined by another former Frickley player, Johnson, who was Goole AFC’s top scorer last season.
