STAFFORD CLUB IS NO MORE

-

FC STAFFORD have folded after pulling out of the West Midlands (Regional) League.

The Division One outfit, who played at Wolgarstone Sports Centre in Cannock Road, were formed out of the former Riverway club in 2013.

Riverway had joined the league in 2002.

As FC Stafford, they won promotion from Division Two only two seasons ago.

The recent loss of two key founding members led to the decision to disband the club.

A club statement said: “Without selfless volunteers, Step 7 and Step 6 level football would not exist.

“Unfortunately, on this occasion, circumstances overcame the club.”

Members of the management have joined neighbouring clubs Stafford Town and Wyrley.
