SOUTHPORT have announced the signing of former Tranmere captain Steve Jennings. The midfielder, 32, has a wealth of experience in the Football League, having made 140 appearance­s for Rovers in League One before joining Scottish club Motherwell in 2009. Manager Alan Lewer said: “He leads by example and he’ll be fantastic on the training field and in the changing room. It’s a massive coup for the club.”

TRURO City have added more experience to their side with the signing of Gosport Borough’s Ben Harding. The 32-year-old midfielder started his career at Chelsea, before playing for the likes of Wimbledon, MK Dons, Wycombe Wanderers and Northampto­n and winning the conference title with Aldershot in 2007. Boss Lee Hodges said: “He is a strong and determined defender.”

ALFRETON Town have completed the signing of Sam Topliss from North Ferriby United. The full-back, 22, made 39 appearance­s for the Villagers in the National League last season, but couldn’t prevent their relegation and has now signed a one-year deal with John McDermott’s side. The Reds boss said: “I’m really pleased to have snapped up Sam, he is an excellent player and another really strong signing for us.”

JORDAN Brown is back at Concord Rangers after agreeing to link up with the Beachboys for next season. The 25-year-old left-back joined Rangers on loan from Welling United in October 2016, making six appearance­s. In between, the former West Ham youngsters has turned out for Crewe Alexandra and Barnet before brief stints at Dulwich Hamlet, Whitehawk, Barnet, Bishop’s Stortford and Boreham Wood.

VERSATILE defender Dan Cowan has joined Stockport County after leaving Macclesfie­ld at the end of last season. The 21-year-old, who is comfortabl­e at right-back or in the centre of defence, came through the Silkmen’s youth ranks and broke into the first team in 2014. County boss Jim Gannon said: “Dan is a good move for now and the future. He has always impressed me.”

NUNEATON Town have completed the signing of exciting winger Alex Henshall. The 23-year-old came through the ranks at Swindon before being snapped up by Manchester City at the age of just 16. Henshall has since had spells at the likes of Ipswich Town, Kilmarnock and most recently Braintree Town and said this week: “I really like the plans and the ambition the club has.”
