McKIMM IS IN NO RUSH TO RECRUIT

-

STEVE MCKIMM has urged Tonbridge Angels fans not to panic over a lack of transfer activity this summer.

Angels missed out on a Premier Division play-off place by just one place and one point last season after spending much of the campaign in the top five.

But while big-spending Billericay Town, Margate and Dulwich Hamlet have further strengthened their squads to boost their promotion charge, McKimm has been somewhat quieter on the transfer market, bringing in just two new additions this summer for the departed Jack Parter.

Still, the former Sutton United and Ebbsfleet midfield ace is happy to bide his time in his on-going search of an attacking midfielder and insists he won’t be rushed into making a decision.

“I’ve spoken to numerous players but nothing has come to fruition as yet,”said McKimm, who has added defensive duo Jeyasiva Sivapathasundram and Craig Stone to his ranks this summer.

“I’ve got some money in the budget left for the right player, but it’s not going to be a rush job.

“Pre-season training starts next week, we’ll be taking a look at a few then but it’s certainly not panic stations for us.

“We proved last year we still have the nucleus of a decent squad and if the right player doesn’t come along and we have to go with what we’ve got, then so be it.”

McKimm will again be working with a smaller budget than his title rivals – not that it bothers him in the slightest!

“You can’t be envious,” he added. “I’m at the club I want to be at and accept the budget that I’ve got. I’ve got no gripes with anyone spending big. Good luck to them!”
