HALL CROWING OVER DANNY DEAL
MILDENHALL TOWN will make their first foray into Step 4 football with an experienced striker in their ranks – former Cambridge United and Luton Town man Danny Crow.
The 31-year-old has been training with the Hall and played in pre-season games against Eynesbury Rovers and Haverhill Borough.
Crow, who has signed a one-year deal, played for AFC Sudbury in Ryman Premier last season after joining from Lowestoft Town in January. He began his career at Norwich City and Peterborough United before spending two years at Cambridge where he scored 22 goals in the Conference.
From there he moved onto Luton for two years and had three at Newport County.
Boss Dean Greygoose thinks his experience will be a big plus.
“He’s come in and straightaway bought into what we’re doing so we’re hoping to get something sorted,” Greygoose told The NLP. “He’s been to one or two training sessions and played two games – I’ve been very impressed with him.
“He’ll bring a bit of experience. We’ve signed three 18/19 year-olds, who are very good players, but you need a balance with experience.”
Greygoose’s side won the Thurlow Nunn Premier division title last season to reach the Bostik North for the first time in their history.
Crow wasn’t the only player to sign up ahead of yesterday’s season opener against Heybridge Swifts.
Experienced frontman Chris Bacon, who scored 16 goals last season, has re-signed, while striker Shaun Alvis has joined from Halstead Town and exArlesey Town defender Ross Taylor has also penned a deal.
