UNITED GO BACK AT HOME – AT LAST!

-

AFTER eight months in the wilderness, finally Hayes & Yeading United have returned to the stadium they only built last year.

United yesterday played their opening Evo-Stik South East game against Aylesbury at the SkyEx Stadium after finally gaining the safety certificate they needed to play competitive football at the ground.

It has been a long time coming after a number of complications – including the need to re-tarmac the walkway around the pitch.

But the latest issue was to do with the club’s impressive main stand and with paperwork finally in order, they were given the green light to kick off.

It was the first competitive game of 2017 at the stadium, built – eventually – after the club left Church Road 2011.

Hayes chairman Tony O’Driscoll vision has been a long time coming and was thankful the supporters stuck by the club during a difficult few years.

“Following recent discussions with the London Borough of Hillingdon, the Evo-Stik League Southern and the Football Association, the club are delighted to announce that a safety certificate has been granted for the SkyEx Community Stadium, as well as agreement of a ground grading for the ground by the Football Associations and the Evo-Stik League Southern,” O’Driscoll confirmed in a statement.
