Collins turns Ks into six-hitters

- By Mark Murphy

KINGSTONIAN blitzed hapless Harlow with a four-goal spell in the second quarter on the way to their biggest win for five seasons.

The Hawks defence played as if they had only recently met. And Ks took full advantage with easily their best display since their wellreceived opening day victory at big-spending Billericay.

The early stages gave no indication of the fun to follow, with as little to choose between the sides as there was to write (home) about.

That all changed on 21 minutes, when Tom Collins drilled his right-foot shot home from the edge of the area after Harlow failed more than once to clear their lines.

Ten minutes later, Ks keeper Rob Tolfrey acrobatically turned aside Tommie Fagg’s header. And in the very next attack, Ks doubled their advantage, Tom Derry pouncing on an underhit backpass, beating Hawks keeper Ben McNamara to the loose ball and rolling his shot into the empty net.

On 36 minutes, Tolfrey made a fabulous reflex save to tip over Jared Small’s right-foot drive from ten yards.

And, once again, Ks scored within a minute, Toby Little superbly curling a hotly-disputed free-kick past McNamara’s left-hand from 25 yards.

Right on half-time Lewis Taylor fired home Ks’ fourth goal after the defence again failed to clear their lines.

Despite the scoreline, McNamara was arguably Harlow’s best player and made fine saves to deny Claudiu Vilcu and Derry after the break.

But Collins acrobatically volleyed home Ks’ fifth goal in the 62nd minute after sneaking in behind the Hawks’ right flank.

And Kane Haysman completed the scoring on 74 minutes, turning home the loose ball from close range after Collins’ corner fell to him.
