DUDLEY DOUBLE ENOUGH FOR WIN

- By Laura Payne

MATT DUDLEY’S double helped Bamber Bridge progress to the First Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy with a 4-2 victory over Brighouse Town.

Brad Carsley opened the scoring for the home side in the first minute and man-of-the-match Dan Mooney was quick to add a second before Dudley took them 3-0 up.

Rob Worrall and Aidan Kirby brought Brighouse to within one goal of their opponents in the second half, but Dudley was on hand to seal the victory in extra time.

Goals came thick and fast for Ashford Town too as the Middlesex side earnt their place in the next round with a 4-1 defeat of Uxbridge.

Dan Fleming was the first to find the net for Ashford and Scott Weight quickly followed suit, heading the goal into an empty net off a rebound.

James Cottee and Romario Jonas added two more in the second half and a first-half spot-kick from Dylan Kearney offered little consolation for Uxbridge.

Potters Bar Town’s victory over Tilbury, who saw manager Gary Henty resign, was equally as convincing as they won 4-0.

Michael Murray was the star of the first half, scoring two for the Scholars before the break.

And Billy Lobjoit shone in the second half of the game, adding two more goals of his own.

Lloyd Dean scored on his 100th appearance in

Prescot Cables’ 3-1 defeat of Trafford, with Joey Faux and Baba Conteh also finding the net for the hosts.

All was not lost for Trafford at the break, as James Dean’s strike kept the score to 1-1, but Prescot could not be contained in the second. Maldon & Tiptree showed their class on the road as they defeated

Northwood 5-2, with two goals each for Ryan Gondoh and Junior OgediUzokwe.

Ossett Albion and Droylsden will play a replay on Tuesday night, Amos Kebaya scored from a spot-kick to take the home side ahead but Droylsden captain Ciaran Kilheeney added a late equaliser from close range.
