KINGS LANGLEY 1 REDDITCH UTD 2

- By Roy Mitchard

KINGS Langley were given the perfect start when they were awarded a penalty in the ninth minute.

It should have seen them go on and secure all three points but very soon the wheels came off their challenge as they failed to push on from their electric start to the game.

Mitchell Weiss chased down Orrin Pendley as he shepherded the ball back, and as the two came together the referee spotted a trip.

Dean Hitchcock converted the spot-kick and Kings went on to have far the better of the first half, with a Brendan Ocran freekick arrowing into the corner, before Ethan Ross, at full length, superbly tipped it round for a corner.

United came close with a Pendley header just past the post on the cusp of half-time, but they gradually worked their way back into the game.

It was frustrating for the home team after such a good start.

As the second half progressed, a Dior Angus shot deflected for a corner and a rising shot from Kevin de Yeiga Monteriro flew just over.

Kings were guilty of switching off when Spencer Weir-Daley crossed low for Angus to turn the ball in.

And it got worse for Kings five minutes later when Ross Hampton clashed with Angus and the striker converted the penalty to leave Kings still searching for that first home win.
