STOURBRIDGE 0 GRANTHAM TOWN 2

- By Nick Pullen

STOURBRIDGE’S slump in form continued as Grantham completed a classic smash and grab raid.

Lee Shaw struck with two late goals for Grantham.

Twice in the opening couple of minutes, Shaw broke through a static Stourbridge defence, but his first effort was ruled offside when Glassboys goalkeeper Matt Gould smoothered the second attempt.

At the opposite end, new signing Luke Shearer was then denied by Grantham goalkeeper Kieran Preston on six minutes following a brave save before Shearer had an even better chance on 22 minutes but blazed wide.

Grantham appeared to step up a gear after half time and Stourbridge survived a real let-off on 51 minutes when a snap-shot from Danny Meadows struck goalie Gould and rebounded back out again.

Stourbridge were out of luck themselves when striker Jordan Archer had a header turned onto the post.

But the deadlock was eventually broken on 82 minutes when a shot from Burrows rebounded into Shaw’s path, who made no mistake when slotting home from close range.

It could have been worse for Stourbridge when Andrew Wright was sent clear with only Gould to beat on the stroke of stoppage time.

There was still time for Grantham to increase their lead, Shaw scoring a second when he lobbed Gould after the Stourbridge defence were caught out when pushing forward.
