LENCH TREBLE HAS REBELS STORMING

- By Gary Barker

MATT Lench’s hattrick saw Slough Town safely into the Second Qualifying Round against lower-league opponents Kidlington.

Lench put the Evostik Southern Premier leaders 2-0 up at the break before Anaclet Odhiambo pulled one back for Kidlington, who tasted defeat for the first time in eight games.

A third for Lench and a Manny Williams strike completed the rout in the final ten minutes as Slough’s unbeaten run stretched to ten in all competitions.

Slough took the lead on seven minutes when James Dobson’s free-kick was met by Lench’s head from close range.

On the stroke of half-time Lench doubled his tally, reacting first to tap into an empty net after Dobson and Warren Harris were denied in quick succession.

The deficit was halved with 20 minutes left as Odhiambo, headed home. But Lench sealed his hat-trick when put through by Williams, before Williams himself finished off a quick counter attack from close range.
