STOPPER POWELL CAN’T BE BEATEN

- By Matthew Hayton

A FIRST-HALF Steven Williams header sent the Dolly Blues through to the next round in a game that should have delivered more goals.

Williams met a superb Craig Carney cross from the left to powerfully head home from close range on 20 minutes as the visitors were rewarded for their bright start. Home keeper Ollie Martin then twice denied Hannu Tam to keep his side in contention.

Ravaged by injury and suspension, Mossley came close to equalising just before the break with Mason Duffy and Mike Fish denied by Josh Powell. The City keeper then produced excellent second-half saves from Elliot Harrison and Fish once again.
