LAMBS’ JOY AS KNIGHTS RAID STUNS GRAY’S MEN

- By Tom Harle

A LATE Darryl Knights winner gave Tamworth a first win in six, beating ten-man York City in a Bootham Crescent thriller.

Prolific Reece Styche’s brace either side of half-time put the visitors ahead and City drew level through Jon Parkin and Daniel Rowe before Knights’ late show.

“We got the battling response I asked for,” Tamworth boss Andy Morrell said. “I’m delighted for this group, I believe in them.”

The Lambs led on 35 minutes when Styche sprung the offside trap and finished coolly for his ninth goal in twelve.

The former Forest Green man struck again moments after the break, latching on to a Knights flick to slot in.

For York, Shaun Newton set up Parkin, the targetman prodding in his cross from close range. City, on top, were reduced to ten men with David Ferguson dismissed for bundling Bradley Reid over when he was through.

But they levelled through Rowe, who turned in at the near post on his home debut.

Tamworth pounced in the final minute, sub Callum Powell racing down the right and crossing to Knights, who scored off the post.

“If you gift teams goals like we are, you give yourself a mountain to climb,” York boss Martin Gray said. STAR MAN: Ben Fox (Tamworth) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
