Dowson rocket lifts Beavers to victory

- By George Jones

ALAN DOWSON praised the character of his Hampton & Richmond side as they came from behind to record their third victory in a week.

Two goals in the final ten minutes secured a turnaround after Marvin Morgan put Bath City in front with just a quarter of an hour played. Beavers boss Dowson told

The NLP: “We were useless in the first half but showed some guts in the second. I went mad at half-time, which I haven’t done in a long time.

“Coming back from a goal down shows character. We didn’t turn up in the first half but we did in the second, and we need to keep that going.”

The Romans had the better of it early on and went ahead as Morgan latched onto a through ball before rounding goalkeeper Sam Howes to slot home.

Hampton went into the break all square when Malachi Napa connected with a long ball from Howes before finishing well.

It took the hosts until the 80th minute to find a crucial second as Max Kretzchmar sent in Josh Casey’s nice ball.

The points were sealed in stoppage time as Harry Crawford thundered his shot home. STAR MAN: Max Kretzchmar (Hampton) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
