CAMBRIDGE UNITED SUTTON UNITED

-

JAMIE BUTLER says Sutton United are ready to play the FA Cup underdog again. Butler watched Sutton’s FA Cup exploits with admiration last season as they beat League sides Cheltenham, AFC Wimbledon and Leeds to reach the fifth round and play giants Arsenal. The 25-year-old keeper joined in the summer and has established himself as the U’s No.1 following injury to Ross Worner. And he says there’s no reason why Sutton, who have had a great start to the National League season, shouldn’t dare to dream for another season. “It wasn’t like they had an easy run to get to play Arsenal,” Butler said. “Then they played well against Arsenal. You can see what it has done for the club with bringing in a fan-base and the home changing rooms are amazing now. “Everything is brand new – you’ve got your own locker above your head, it’s like a mini-Wembley dressing room. “Cambridge is a game people probably don’t expect us to win but we’re confident we could get something out of it. We’re a threat going forward and we always fancy ourselves to score. We need to make sure we go there and play our game. We’re a big threat, a big side and make it difficult for teams to beat us. “Their home record is brilliant so it will be tough, but we’ll give it our best shot.” Butler was part of Met Police’s run to the first round in 2012 when the Isthmian Premier club pushed League Two Crawley Town all the way in a 2-1 defeat. “At Met you had to win quite a few games to get to the first round,” Butler said. “I remember one game against Berkhamstead I saved a penalty while injured and we went on to win 3-0. It was really good but it’s the only FA Cup run I’ve really had so far.”
