TOOTING & MITCHAM U 3 KINGSTONIAN 2

- By Ian Bullock

TOOTING & Mitcham took the points winning this thrilling encounter, their first league victory over Kingstonian since 2007.

The visitors went close in the second minute when Alec Fiddes had a freekick well saved by United keeper Matte Pierson, low to his right.

Tooting opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Peter Wedgeworth’s corner was headed into his own net by Marvin Elliott.

Three minutes later the Terrors went 2-0 up when Peter Wedgeworth’s long range effort took a deflection and ballooned over Rob Tolfrey in the Ks goal.

Moments later Wedgeworth had another fierce shot saved by Tolfrey.

In the 59th minute Kingstonian pulled a goal back with a cracking 25yard shot from Marvin Elliott, which made amends for his earlier header into the same net.

Four minutes later Fiddes had a chance to make it 2-2 but fired over a gaping goal after a fine save by Pierson.

Tooting made them pay a minute later when Omar Folkes played in Mike Dixon who finished with aplomb.

Back came Kingstonian and Tom Derry made it 3-2 with six minutes left.

And two minutes from time, Pierson made a fine stop to foil substitute Daniel Ajakayie and keep the points safe.
