ALAS FOR MET AS ALLAS HITS PAIR FOR DULWICH

- MET POLICE v DULWICH By Paul Burnell

DULWICH destroyed Met Police in this clash of the top two at Imber Court, with a four-goal first-half blitz to send them seven points clear.

Hamlet’s very future may be uncertain but they made sure of the victory in Surrey with a marvellous opening 45 minutes.

Following a comprehensive 4-1 win away at Burgess Hill on Tuesday, Met Police came in to the game full of confidence

But in the process of rushing to victory, Hamlet ended the Mets’ long unbeaten run with four goals in 24 minutes, after a relatively even start.

Dulwich went ahead in the 15th minute as Reise Allassani struck the ball low and hard from outside the box into the bottom corner.

The visitors were on the front foot and doubled their lead five minutes later, with

Allassani rounded keeper Luke Williams and driving home his and his side’s second goal, even though Will Salmon did his best to keep it out on the line.

Dulwich sensed they could kill off the game early and kept on the ascendancy.

And on 31 minutes they made it 3-0, an unmarked Mark Weatherstone having the simple task of heading home from six yards giving Williams no chance.

Despite the scorleine, the Met were still presenting a threat.

Jonny Wright was winning plenty of flick-ons for Lloyd Macklin and Bayley Mummery to try and get on the end of.

But the strike duo couldn’t quite marry up the ball and the run.

And Hamlet’s first half scoring wasn’t done, as they found a fourth goal six minutes before half-time..

Superb work on the right from Nana Boakye-Yiadom allowed him time and space to deliver a great cross for Allassani to get his header on target.

Allassani may have thought he had his hat-trick. However, he will have to fight for it after Anthony Acheampong seemed to tap it in on the line.

The home side continued to battle in the second half and did not give up the fight.

Sam Gallagher’s glancing header from a corner came back off the bar and Macklin had a few shots from distance.

The Blues did get some reward lin the 68th minute, as Tom Bird was fouled in the box for a clear penalty.

Macklin’s effort was initially saved by Hamlet keeper Preston Edwards but Isaac Newton followed up to finish from the rebound.
