PENNANT STILL PLAYS THE BLUES
JERMAINE PENNANT is staying at Billericay Town after accepting a pay cut.
The Bostik Premier side announced the 34-year-old would be leaving the club with ownermanager Glenn Tamplin saying they couldn’t afford to pay his wages when he’s not been making the starting line-up.
Pennant has found starting shirts hard to come by with Sam Deering the first choice in his preferred position on the wing.

But less than 24 hours after revealing he had left, the Blues announced the former Arsenal, Liverpool and Stoke City midfielder would be staying on after accepting reduced wages.
Tamplin, who told The NLP earlier this season that the weekly wage bill is £25,000, has said he’s renegotiating deals for next season already. He tweeted: “Fantastic news. Jermaine and myself have renegotiated terms and Jermaine remains a Billericay player.
“I want to take this opportunity to explain how genuine and fair Jermaine has been to enable him to stay at the club. Fantastic attitude and genuine desire to play for the club.”
Pennant was signed in the summer as the latest of Billericay’s big-name arrivals.
Paul Konchesky, the former West Ham and England defender, signed at the back end of last season, but left last month although ex-Spurs and Wolves midfielder Jamie O’Hara is still at the club.
Just like his manager, Pennant also confirmed he was staying put at the AGP Arena on twitter, posting: “All the confusion and rumours, but happy to still be a Billericay player.”
