BAD WEATHER decimated the fixture programme but Mitch Woodbine was on fire as he smashed a hattrick in Ashby Ivanhoe’s basement battle with Holwell Sports.

A fine solo effort from Woodbine got Ashby off to a flying start but the match was locked at two apiece at the break, with Angus Blair-Park also on target for the visitors. But Woodbine eased Ashby to victory by completing his treble and Nathan Banton sealed a fine 5-2 win.

Birstall United are up to fifth after a third straight win. The 3-1 defeat of Belper United makes it seven games unbeaten for Birstall, who scored through Adam Boulter, Tom Marriott and Aaron Large. Belper led through Tom Rusby but were reduced to ten after Sam Foster’s red card.

Aylestone Park saw their keeper sent off but they held to triumph 3-1 against Gedling Miners Welfare, who saw Aboubacar Sylla miss a penalty.

WOLVES SPORTING COMMUNITY wasted a wonderful chance to take top spot, with leaders Tividale’s seeing a waterlogged pitch at Smethwick Rangers, as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Wellington Amateurs.

Amateurs led through Ryan Bradshaw then Liam Kirton, while Tom Hill got his 25th goal of the season for Wolves Sporting and Alex Moore salvaged a point with a late penalty

Malvern Town also missed out on the chance to go level with Tividale after a 1-1 draw with Bewdley Town.

Josh Hunt put Malvern into an early lead but Bewdley levelled through a last-gasp Aaron Griffiths penalty.

It was a good day for the lower sides as second-bottom Dudley Town beat high-flying Cradley Town 4-2 and Pegasus Juniors bagged a vital point, in a 1-1 draw with AFC Bridgnorth.
