CRISIS club Henley Town are set to be bailed out by a £22,000 town council lifeline.

The loan will help fund improvemen­ts at the club’s Triangle ground, including an upgrade to the changing rooms, a refurbishm­ent of the kitchen and bar and extra maintenanc­e.

The club were recently forced to pull out halfway through their Hellenic League Division One East season for financial reasons but will pay £3,000 towards the work. A final decision by the council will be made on Wednesday.

Henley’s reserve side – now their first team – play in the Thames Valley Premier League. Their Reading Sunday League teams are also continuing. NORTH West Counties side 1874 Northwich are in mourning following the death of chairman Paul Stockton at the age of 67.

Stockton was instrument­al in establishi­ng the supporter-run club in 2012 and remained a driving force behind the progress of the Step 5 club.

He passed away after a battle with cancer and 1874 were quick to pay tribute to their late chairman.

A statement on the club website said: “It is with an enormous amount of sadness, that we have to advise that Paul sadly passed away earlier today, after a very brave fight against cancer. Our chairman was extremely well respected, having much contact with our League, the FA, officials of other football clubs along with many groups and individual­s.

“He set exceptiona­lly high standards, ensuring that 1874 Northwich is well run, for its members and supporters.

“He was extremely proud of his beloved club and everyone involved with it,
