Coalville express start is the key

COALVILLE TOWN 4 SUTTON COLDFIELD TOWN 2

- By Joel Moore

A STORMING first-half performance from Coalville Town applied further pressure to bottom placed Sutton Coldfield, whose position becomes increasingly perilous.

Sutton Coldfield struggled from the word go and will be frustrated they didn’t perform better as they went in search of a crucial three points to help their dangerous position in the table.

Daniel Creaney netted the first of the afternoon after 13 minutes, getting a slight touch to Nathan Watson’s deflected cross, diverting past the keeper from five yards.

Good opportunities for Creaney and Justin Richards were sandwiched by the first two goals as the former grabbed his second after half an hour was played.

The Coalville forward pounced on a rebound, took a touch and slotted home with ease.

Watson then added a third five minutes later, receiving a pass from Steve Towers on the right before cutting in on his left and driving a shot into the bottom right-hand corner.

The Ravens grabbed a fourth goal before the break.

Creaney completed his hat-trick with a coolly-taken penalty down the middle after Reece Webb brought down the Coalville number nine.

It looked like it was game, set and match at this stage of the encounter.

The second half was a contrasting story as the hosts were punished for a sloppy 45 minutes, with Sutton grabbing two consolation goals.

Danny Jenno conceded a penalty after 71 minutes – which Richards smashed in off the bar.

Before things got interesting when Richards got a slight touch to a whipped free kick with his head, converting it past Coton.

However, the visitors lacked a clinical edge as Coalville saw things out. STAR MAN: Daniel Creaney (Coalville) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
