DRAW SEES ANCIENTS CLINCH TOP HALF SPOT

CEFN DRUIDS bagged the point they needed to secure a place in the top six of the Welsh Premier League at the split after a goalless draw with Llandudno at the Rock.

Llandudno came into the match three points behind the Druids but, with a better goal difference, knew a win would see them snatch sixth spot.

Marc Evans went close for the visitors just before the half hour mark but, after finding space at the back post, he could not get enough purchase on his shot before forcing a good save out of Michael Jones moments later.

They went close again two minutes later when good work from Toby Jones down the left saw him cut in and square the ball to Danny Hughes who saw his shot hit the crossbar.

Lewis Buckley also struck the woodwork with a low driven shot for the Druids in the first half.

Llandudno’s cause was not helped when they lost skipper Tom Dix for a second yellow card on 49 minutes for a challenge on Alec Mudimu. The Druids clung on to cement sixth.

Newtown beat Prestatyn 3-0. Holders Llanelli Town coasted into the semi-finals of the Nathaniel Car Sales League Cup with a 5-1 win at AFC Llwydcoed.

Jordan Follows’ hat-trick stole the show with Lee Trundle and James Loveridge also on target.

Also through are Trefelin who won 1-0 at STM Sports thanks to Jordan Edwards’ first-half goal.
