Nash hit by Curz of old boy Haughton

- By Dave Jones

CHORLEY produced a solid defensive display as a goal in each half earned them the three points at Curzon.

The host showed good battling effort but couldn’t break down the Chorley back four, with goals from Josh O’Keefe and former Curzon man Nick Haughton enough for the victory.

The breakthrough came on 13 minutes when Matt Jansen’s Magpies Chorley, for the first time, put some pressure onto Curzon, won themselves a corner.

The delivery was floated in by Adam Blakeman, O’Keefe, unmarked from 12 yards out, headed home past Cameron Mason.

The visitors nearly made it 2-0 two minutes later after Haughton delivered a great cross into the box but Josh Wilson’s touch was just wide.

On 28 minutes Curzon should have drawn level but Matt Urwin was equal to a superb effort from Joe Guest.

Just on the stroke of half time, a Curzon freekick was won by Chorley’s captain Andy Teague but he directed his header towards his own goal and was relieved to see it hit Urwin’s crossbar.

Curzon started the second half with more urgency & looked dangerous on the attack, but Chorley defended resolutely throughout.

And they got the second goal, which wrapped up the game and a vital three points with a quarter of an hour to go as Haughton breezed past two defenders and fired past Mason. STAR MAN: Matt Challoner (Chorley) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
