HALL OVER FOR REBELS WHEN BATH SINKS 'EM

- By Jay Richardson

TIVERTON secured a vital three points from promotion chasing Slough at Ladysmead. Tivvy were buoyed by Shane Krac returning to the engine room and young Alexis Andre Junior joining from Bristol Rovers.

The visitors from Berkshire made an impressive start trying to play a passing game on a pitch that cut up from the start.

In the third minute there was a chance for Matt Lench who shot through a crowded penalty area and saw his goalbound shot tipped onto the post by Tivvy debutant keeper Andre Junior.

Tivvy started to get more into the game and began to match their high flying opponents.

They carved out their own chance on 15 minutes when a header by Jared Lewington was saved by Jack Turner.

Lench had a shot on 17 minutes that sailed over Andre Junior’s bar.

On 29 minutes Slough cranked up the pressure and it took a great clearance from Tom Gardner to somehow keep the scores still level.

Tivvy then had a good ten minutes with River Allen and Krac pulling the strings, however only half chances were forthcoming. Tivvy were the happier team going in level at the break.

The second half saw Tiverton come out of the blocks determined not to repeat their previous Saturday’s second half performance at Basingstoke.

In the 49th minute substitute Callum Hall, on for the injured Nick Hurst in the first half, coolly slotted past Jack Turner to give Tivvy the lead.

On 63 minutes Allen danced down the right flank and squared for Tom Bath to make no mistake from six yards out to double the home side’s lead and put them seemingly in control.

Slough responded by pushing further upfield but in truth without troubling Andre Junior.

And Tivvy put the icing on the cake with a third goal on 78 minutes when another raking pass from the impressive Allen found Hall on the left.

Hall blazed into the box and expertly finished past Turner for his second of the game.

Slough will no doubt have better days and will be up in the play-offs.

However, the day belonged to Tivvy who reignited their faint play off hopes with a well-received three points. STAR MAN: Callum Hall (Tiverton) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
