UNITED THAME THE RAMS

- By Richard Dore

MID-TABLE Thame United upset high-flying Beaconsfield Town with a 1-0 away win.

A 65th-minute strike by Lynton Goss, following up after his penalty had been saved by Raven Constable, was enough to earn United maximum points.

The Oxfordshire club were indebted to goalkeeper Craig Hill, who made a string of fine saves to thwart the Rams attack, as they suffered a first defeat since Boxing Day.

The hosts’ misery was completed when substitute Alex Cathline was shown a straight red card for a stray elbow on 77 minutes, but Thame were left to celebrate as their good form maintains hopes of a play-off place.

Goals were the order of the day between

Moneyfields and Hayes & Yeading, as the Hillingdon-based side hit top gear to prevail 5-2 on the road.

The visitors got off to the perfect start when Duncan Culley headed in after just two minutes, repeating the trick moments later to head home from a Toby Little cross.

Moneyfields got back into it on 17 minutes through Ryan Kinnane’s own goal, but then found themselves three down when Culley turned provider to set up Manny Duku.

After the interval Culley completed his hattrick, taking advantage of a defensive mix-up, and Duku got his second on 57 minutes, heading into the net from a Scott Donnelly cross.

Moneyfields got a consolation deep into injury time but it was too little too late – Hayes & Yeading stayed fifth in the table. Mid-table Ashford

Town and Northwood couldn’t be split as they shared the points in a 2-2 draw.

In front of a home crowd, Ashford took an early lead when Elliott Poley slid in to ram home a flicked on free-kick.

Northwood got back into it on 20 minutes when Wilson Chingoka headed in off the post, but fell behind again in the second half to Alex Fisher’s penalty.

Chingoka completed his double midway through the second half and despite several late chances nobody could make a third breakthrough.

Kempston Rovers will be happy with their day as they ran out 2-0 winners away at struggling Aylesbury United.

Alexander Collard finished off a goalmouth scramble against his former club to put Kempston ahead and Luke Heneghan struck late on to make it three wins from three for the Walnut Boys. There were further struggles too for Arlesey, who went down 2-0 away from home at Bedford Town.

The damage was done early on for the Eagles, with James Peters firing home from 20 metres out and Paul Benson doubling the lead just after the halfhour, nudging home at the back post.

Bedford end the weekend in ninth, three places below Chalfont St

Peter who claimed a dramatic 3-2 win at Hanwell Town.

Nicholas Turner and Calum Duffy struck early for the hosts, but second half strikes for Jake Cass, George Fenton and Ryan Haugh stole three points for the Saints.

The biggest victors of the day were Hartley Wintney who downed

Egham Town 7-1 thanks to doubles from Steven Duff and Jake Baxter, plus strikes from Liam Eagle, Adam Everiss and Paul Hodges.

Uxbridge also celebrated a good Saturday afternoon, with Dave Thomas’ late strike securing a 3-2 win over Fleet Town.
