DAY ADDS KEEPERS IN BID TO SHORE UP

- By Jon Couch

FARNBOROUGH have turned to a club legend and the brother of a Premier League star in a bid to stem the flow of goals conceded.

Spencer Day’s men have leaked four goals or more on no fewer than nine occasions so far this season, including a 7-1 defeat at Redditch United and 6-0 at Weymouth in January alone.

Now, Day has moved to shore it up by bringing in two new goalkeepers ahead of yesterday’s visit of Evo-Stik Southern Premier high-flyers Hereford.

Fans’ favourite Craig Bradshaw is back at Cherrywood Road after four years away at the club and Dennis Begovic has arrived on loan from Bristol City.

The 18-year-old is the younger brother of AFC Bournemouth’s former Chelsea keeper Asmir.

Day said: “I’m delighted to add two keepers from completely different ends of the spectrum. Dennis is a young pro with a great attitude and I’m grateful to his brother Asmir and Bristol City for letting him come for experience.

“Bradders – I’ve tried to get back a couple of times including last October but work commitments stopped it then but he’s a keeper that was popular here years ago and again wants to return and fight for the longer-term jersey.

“Including young Aiden [Upward] we have three keepers at different stages of their careers that have to compete for starting places this can only be a good thing.”
