WILLIAMS BACK WITH TIGERS VIA STATESIDE

- By Jon Couch

POPULAR striker Harry Williams is back on home soil – and in familiar territory at Gloucester City.

The former Cheltenham Town striker Williams has re-joined the National League South club Gloucester City on loan until the end of the season.

And this is after a spell playing in the United Soccer League in America with the Sacramento Republic.

After enjoying a loan spell at Farnborough, Williams first joined the Tigers in 2015 on loan from neighbours and landlords Cheltenham and became an instant hit with the locals scoring seven goals in 16 appearances.

Williams, who can play either as an attacking midfield or as a striker, scored eight goals across the pond for Replublic despite suffering two key spells of injury.

His imminent return prompted interest from a Football League club, but Williams has opted to return to Gloucester in order play regular first-team football.

Tigers boss Marc Richards said: “It’s great that we’ve been able to bring Harry in as he gives us greater strength in depth and will add to our attacking options. He’s come in to help us out at a key stage in our season.

“We know he can play at a higher level and hopefully with the chances we’ve been creating, he can come in, score some goals for us and once again enable him to kick on in his career.

“We are hoping to have him in the squad for Saturday, but we are waiting on his international clearance.”
