BASFORD BACK IN BUSINESS

- By Will Thompson

FERNANDO Toxtle-Bell’s double ensured there was no hangover for league leaders Basford from their first league defeat last week, with a convincing 5-1 win against Newcastle Town.

Toxtle-Bell gave them a two-goal lead in the first 22 minutes, firing in from ten yards after seven minutes and then heading in from close range.

Aaron Bott put the visitors back in the game four minutes later, rounding Saul Deeney.

Lewis Carr restored Basford’s two goal lead, bundling home Ash Grayson’s corner.

Liam Hearn was brought down and picked himself up to score from the spot on 62 minutes and, in added time, Harry Wakefield hammered in to round off the win.

Tyler Blake and Jacob Hazel both grabbed two as

Frickley Athletic took no mercy against Market Drayton, in the 8-0 win.

Gavin Allott gave the hosts the lead, before Blake and Hazel made it 4-0 between them and Thomas Dugdale added a fifth before half time.

Jeff Watkins turned into his own net after 75 minutes.

Hazel rubbed salt into the wounds with a goal in the final few minutes, finishing off a clinical performance by secondplaced Frickley. Chasetown’s Jack Langston grabbed a hattrick in a dramatic 5-4 win over Peterborough Sports, including two penalties. The hosts went two up through Muziwandile Nduna and the first Langston penalty, before Peterborough managed to get two back. Oliver Medwynter scored first for the visitors, then Jordan Macleod equalised before the break.

Langston scored his second penalty just after the restart, then bagged his third goal only two minutes later to put daylight between the two.

Two goals in quick succession from Samuel Hill and Andre Williams again levelled the score for Peterborough, but Jacob Lovatt got the winner only four minutes later.

A last-minute equaliser from Adam Champman made it 2-2 and saved a point for Sheffield FC against Alvechurch.

Thomas Turton opened the scoring for the visitors with a penalty, but an Andrew Parsons own goal levelled for Sheffield.

Alvechurch took the lead again on the hour mark after Joshua March’s goal, but Chapman’s late equaliser saved the day.

Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson secured a 1-0 away win for Stamford against Kidsgrove, whilst at the other end of the table Romulus drew 0-0 with Leek

Town. Bedworth continued their chase for second with a 3-1 away win at Lincoln United.

Two goals from Alexander Troke secured the win, with Levi Rowley featuring on the scoresheet as well.

Lincoln opened the scoring after just four minutes but it was all downhill after that.

Belper Town also lost at home as Loughborough Dynamo ran out 2-1 victors in a tight game.

Second-half goals from Dylan Garnett and Tolani Omotola were enough to see off the hosts, despite Paulo Piliero levelling after 68 minutes.

A number of games were called off due to poor conditions, including

Carlton Town v Stocksbridge Park Steels, Cleethorpes Town v Corby Town, and Gresley v Spalding.
