BIGGLESWADE TOWN 1 BASINGSTOKE TOWN 2

- By Mike Draxler

THE goal came too early for Biggleswade Town who slipped to defeat.

Neat inter-play between Craig Daniel and Greg Kaziboni saw the former loft a ball over the static Basingstoke defence for Robbie Parker to beat the offside trap. Parker looked to be heading too wide but cut back his shot to find the net on four minutes.

It was all the home side as Basingstoke’s one attack in the first 20 minutes was a stunning shot from man of the afternoon Callum Bunting as his shot hit the near upright.

This should have given warning to the home side as Bunting again found a return cross to power a header past the outstretched arms of keeper Liam Gooch on 38 minutes.

Daniel hit the post on 78 minutes but apart from that the home side were fighting an uphill struggle after hot property Bunting had given his side the lead eight minutes previously after a mix-up in the home defence.

Connor Hall stung the palms of visiting keeper Colm McAdden who pushed his fierce shot over.

A final scare for Biggleswade came as Sam Smart turned everybody inside out before cracking his shot against the bar.

A deserved win from the Hampshire side who will have enjoyed their journey home even more with three points tucked away. STAR MAN: Callum Bunting (B’stoke) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
