SAM IS AT DOUBLE IN BATTLE OF TWO CITIES

OXFORD CITY 2 CHELMSFORD CITY 0

- By Patrick Lock

SAM NOMBE starred once again for Oxford City as he scored both goals in their win over Chelmsford City.

The visitors started the game well and could well have been ahead on six minutes as Anthony Church had a header from a corner cleared off the line by Eddie Jones.

A quick break from the Hoops saw Craig Braham-Barrett lose out to Nombe, who drove forward before finishing under Sam Beasant on seven minute.

The Clarets forced a series of corners on 20 minutes, these leading only to Phil Roberts heading the ball over.

Oxford City doubled their lead doubled just five minutes into the second period. Scott Davies lost possession in the middle of the park before MK Dons loanee Nombe and Reece Fleet traded passes, seeing the former bare down on goal once again before finishing into the bottom right corner.

There could have been a third just four minutes after that as Fleet was able to get possession inside the box, but Beasant saved well.

The hosts restricted Chelmsford to long range efforts as the half wore on, with former Hoops Davies and Jonny Giles clearing the bar.

Sub Ezra Forde had the final shot as he managed to get around Braham-Barrett into the box, but his fierce effort hit the side netting.
