SPHINX FUTURE IS NOW SECURE

- By Robin Jones

MIDLAND Premier outfit Coventry Sphinx have come in from the cold big time – with the signing of a new lease to secure their future.

The Coventry Sphinx Sports & Social Club management have signed a new 25-lease with Rolls Royce for their ground at Sphinx Drive.

The lease agreement has unlocked the door for major upgrades to facilities, including the installation of a floodlit nine-a-side 3G pitch, the rendering of the outside of the clubhouse, the development of an 18-hole putting green and the resurfacing of the car park.

Sphinx chairman Dannie Cahill said: “Together we have now put in place the security of the football club and with us being in existence for 72 years, we are proud that the club will still be around to celebrate its centenary.

“The football club now boasts 26 teams who will all benefit from the new facilities.”

Sports & Social club chairman Joe Fletcher said: “This now gives us a platform to grow the business to the level of sustainability moving forward and for the benefit of the local community and beyond.”

Neil Buswell, social club treasurer, added: “With any business it’s vital it remains sustainable and with us now having secured a new twenty-five-year lease we can now focus on all aspects of the operation to optimise its true potential.”
