TAMWORTH 4 NORTH FERRIBY 1

- By Matt Panter

TAMWORTH boosted their survival chances with a first win since New Year’s Day as they put doomed North Ferriby United to the sword.

Ferriby have already had their second relegation on the spin confirmed and the season isn’t getting any easier.

The hosts were ahead on 19 minutes. Dior Angus, brought in on loan from League Two Port Vale last week, used a burst of pace and good touch to beat James Piercy to the ball before firing home from the tightest of angles.

Mike Fowler’s Lambs doubled their lead on 28 minutes as Stephan Morley whipped in a free-kick from the left and Aman Verma was on hand to head home.

The home side had the game won on the stroke of half-time as another Morley set-piece was flicked against the post by Verma and Akwasi Asante was on hand to bundle the ball home.

Shell-shocked Ferriby started the second half better and they were rewarded with a goal on 57 minutes as Lewis Collins played in Jamie Nicholls to fire past Jack Stevens.

But normal service was soon resumed as Verma’s strike was deflected away for a corner from which Jack Lane headed wide.

Defender Lane made it 4-1 on 65 minutes, turning neatly inside the box and firing past Lewis Exall.

Full-back Andy Burns went close to a fifth with a left-footed strike, Asante hooked an effort narrowly wide while Joel Kettle headed past the post from a late corner as the Lambs dominated.
