REPAY THE BOSS DUO

Morley at Chester

-

tabled an attractive offer as an assistant, but the lure of a club with the pedigree of Chester meant he would only be heading in one direction.

Faith

“The pull of working with my old pals, at a massive club like Chester, was just too much,” said Howson. “I got offered a really good coaching role at Radcliffe Borough, and that is something that really does interest me. Who knows, somewhere down the line that may still happen but for now I just want to get to Chester and give something back to the people putting faith in me.

“Nobody is under any illusions, we know how tough it is going to be because it is such a tough league and there is a rebuilding process underway at the club. But knowing the two managers like I do, they will be bringing in the right calibre of player to get the job done and to achieve success. People want to play for those two.

“We need a few good results early doors and then you would hope the crowds start to get pulled in. There is so much potential there. We all want to play in front of big crowds, and we really want to give something back to the fans who own the club.” Meanwhile, the defender, while ultimately delighted to be reunited with his old bosses, vented his disappointment at the way Johnson and Morley left Salford after bringing the club three promotions in four seasons. “I felt they were cheated. They deserved a crack at the National League. But they have landed on their feet at Chester. Yes, Salford are going places and I will always wish them my best, but Chester are a bigger club in my opinion, and they have the right people there in Bernard and Jonno!”
