MONEY TALKS AS GOAL ACE MILLS QUITS!

-

FAN favourite John Mills believes money spent on other players could have been used to keep him at Hereford, writes PAUL ROGERS.

The lethal marksman – who bagged a staggering 140 goals in just three seasons – has decided to leave the phoenix club after failing to agree terms.

Mills was all set to continue with the Bulls in National League North next season after helping them clinch the Evo-Stik Southern Premier title in April.

But the striker, who lives in Oxford, says the extra travelling wouldn’t have been an issue if he was paid what he thought he was worth.

“I spoke to the gaffer a couple of weeks after the season finished and he had his point of view and I had mine,” said Mills.

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t come to an agreement. I don’t want to say too much about the money issue, but he said the budget wasn’t there and I realised it was and he didn’t want to spend it on me.

“So, it opened up my eyes that he was willing to spend the money on other players.”

Mills is in talks with a couple of clubs that play at the same level as Hereford and says he is open to any offer.

It is understood that Bath City are eying up the striker, while he could also link up with his former teammate Pablo Haysham at Salisbury.

“When you play at a club like Hereford you do get a lot of exposure and always attract attention,” said Mills.

“Travelling won’t be an issue whether it’s north or south, I’ve just got to pick the right

club.”
