Now Moors can bloom under Flowers

-

FORMER England goalkeeper Tim Flowers says escaping relegation with Solihull Moors last season was his biggest achievement in football – now he’s ready to go one step better. The 51-year-old has made the step up from assistant to first-team manager at Moors after previous boss Mark Yates left to take over at newly-promoted Macclesfield in the Football League. Flowers and Yates steered the club to safety in the National League last season despite having just 11 points on the board from 19 games when they joined in November. Now Flowers, who has previously managed at Stafford Rangers and Kidderminster, is hoping to use that as a platform to climb the top tier. “The great escape ranks as one of my biggest achievements in football and now to have the opportunity to build on everything we achieved last season is the icing on the cake,” said the former Southampton and Blackburn keeper, capped 11 times by England. “I would like to thank the board for their confidence both in me and Gary Whild with whom I have an excellent working relationship “With the pre-season games scheduled in less than three weeks there is much to do and I cannot wait to get started.” Similarly, assistant boss Whild, another former Kidderminster manager, cannot wait to get going. “We have built something quite special at Moors and to be working with Tim Flowers as we move into our third season at the highest Non-League level is really exciting,” he said.
