RE-ENERGISED FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE

- By Mark Carruthers

EBAC Northern League club Hebburn Town have announced a major sponsorship deal with North East energy company ‘The Energy Check’. The deal sees the Hornets’ home ground renamed as ‘The Energy Check Sports Ground’ and the company will manage the facility’s energy accounts. The announcement is the latest in a big summer for the South Tyneside club as they look to follow the on-field and commercial success of nearneighbours South Shields.

Manager Scott Oliver has already secured a number of eye-catching signings this summer including former Gateshead and Darlington striker Graeme Armstrong and three-time FA Vase winner Lee Kerr.

Now the attention turns to key announcements away from the pitch and the club’s Director of Football Stephen Rutherford believes that the new deal will help them deliver on their short and long-term targets for the football club.

He said: “We’ve been working in the background for a couple of months on this deal with local businessman David Winton (CEO of The Energy Check) and our allocated commercial partnership manager from the company Andrew Brewer to ensure we secured the best partnership outcome for both the football club and The Energy Check.

“It’s great to see local businesses support our clubs vision and objectives we have set out in our five-year plan.

“I firmly believe this is just the start of a excellent future but also an opportunity for other potential commercial partners to come forward and listen to our project and plans and get involved.

“It’s not just about focusing all our energy on our senior team doing well but ensuring our full club from our Junior section right through to our Over 50s Walking Football section are part of what we want to achieve.

“We are creating a real community hub here where we can develop and nurture football talent for all.”
