BEN JUMPS ON TRAWLERBOYS BANDWAGON

-

BURY Town boss Ben Chenery reckons he has pulled off a coup after landing attacking midfielder Jake ChambersShaw from under the noses of Suffolk neighbours Lowestoft Town.

The playmaker alerted the attentions of the Trawlerboys after putting in a number of impressive performances for Mildenhall Town in the Isthmian North last season, scoring seven times in 35 appearances.

But due to unforeseen circumstances, ChambersShaw’s transfer to The Amber Dew Events Stadium failed to reach completion, prompting Chenery and a number of managers in the region to express an interest.

Now, after talks with Chenery – back in the Bury dugout after suffering a heart scare last season – Chambers-Shaw has opted for a move to Ram Meadow having taken part in pre-season friendlies against Colchester United U23’s and Hadleigh United this week.

Speaking to the club website, Chenery, the former Cambridge United and Canvey Island player, said: “I am delighted that Jake has agreed to join us.

“When we learned that his move to Lowestoft was not taking place we were keen to seen him in action, and he had shown his quality in the last two games he has played for us.

“He is an attacking midfielder that will create goals and also is great at set-pieces, and I know that his skill and workrate will be something our fans will appreciate.

“He has the ability to create goals and score them himself which is something we need in our side.

“We have been speaking this week and I am pleased he has decided to join us. He obviously knows the other ex-Mildenhall lads in our new-look squad so that will help him settle in.”
