BOBBY’S BEAMING AT BUBB DOUBLE

- By Adam Lloyd

WEALDSTONE boss Bobby Wilkinson hailed his team’s perfect performance at Dartford.

Two first-half goals from Bradley Bubb and a wonder-strike by Jeffrey Monakana ensured three points for Wilkinson’s impressive side who dominated from start to finish at Princes Park.

Keeper Jonathan North kept a clean sheet at the other end and Wilkinson was left purring about his side’s display.

“From start to finish we were outstanding,” he said. “We’ve been working extra hard behind the scenes to show our ability and that was for everyone at the club who has supported me, the management team and all the players.

“I think you can say it’s perfect. You always set up for clean sheets away from home but to get three goals and the manner of two of them were unbelievable.

“It’s a tricky place against a good side with a new management team who are getting used to a big club here.”

Bubb also provided an answer to his manager, who has left him out of the starting line-up in recent matches.

“I haven’t played Bubby in the past couple of games and he may be a bit hard done by not starting,” said Wilkinson. “I’m trying to get a bit of competition but Bubby has come in and scored two fantastic goals.

“But the goal of the day was Jeffrey’s. It was a worldie and a pleasure to watch it. We took everything on board that we’re trying to achieve and I’m a proud manager as we deserved that win.”

Bubb took advantage of lapse Dartford defending to put the visitors ahead from an acute angle.

Wealdstone keeper North did well to keep out a stinging Ben Greenhalgh effort but it was the away team who looked most threatening.

David Pratt and Monakana both went close before Bubb converted from close range after Pratt’s header from a rightwing corner had come back off the crossbar.

Monakana scored the goal of the game eight minutes into the second half, cutting in from the left wing and finding the back of the net via the underside of the bar from 25 yards.

It could have been more for Wealdstone as Monakana led a counter attack which ended in Bubb heading wide and then Monakana curled just wide ten minutes from time. Substitute Manny Ighorae had a good effort well saved after coming on but Dartford, who were without influential midfielder Elliot Bradbrook through illness, never really looked like getting back into the contest. “It was very disappointing performance,” said joint-Dartford boss Adam Flanagan. “Our expectations were a lot higher. “It was a lacklustre performance and all the good traits that good Dartford sides have had weren’t there at all. It was a really poor day at the office. “The first goal was really poor to give away and the second goal we lost all three phases of play. “It wasn’t good enough from us.”
