DRUIDS ARE ROCKED BY LLANELLI’S COMEBACK

LLANELLI TOWN are up and running in the JD Welsh Premier League after Chris Jones’ penalty deep into added time secured a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory at Cefn Druids.

The Reds, back after a nineyear-absence, were thumped 7-0 at home by Connah’s Quay Nomads in their opening game – and the writing looked on the wall at half-time yesterday as they trailed 2-0 at the Rock.

Dean Rittenberg put the Druids ahead after six minutes before James Davies added a second on 34 minutes.

But James Loveridge pulled one back for the visitors two minutes after the restart and it was the same man who levelled on 74 minutes when he and Jordan Follows led a counteratt­ack.

The comeback was complete three minutes into stoppage time when Jones kept his cool to net from the spot.

The other game yesterday was a goalless draw at Richmond Park between Carmarthen

Town and Llandudno – a game that saw Cheryl Foster become the first female referee to take charge of a Welsh Premier game. Cardiff Metropolit­an University lead the way after they made it two wins out of two with a 4-1 win at Aberystwyt­h Town on Friday night.
