THE STEELS TAUGHT BY STAMFORD
TWO goals in the opening two minutes ignited a dramatic six-goal thriller between Stocksbridge
Park Steels and Stamford, with the latter claiming a 4-2 victory.
Steels opened the scoring when Scott Ruthven tapped in an easy effort, but it was short lived as Stamford went straight up the other end and equalised through Stan Mugisha.
Hosts Stocksbridge then had Tyler Williams sent off after half an hour after an awful-looking two-footed challenge.
Straight after the break Stamford once again came out of the traps with a blast and Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson slotted home to take the lead.
Jordan Cooke then made it three just after the hour mark from a corner, before Mugisha got the Daniels’ fourth on 66 minutes.
With seven minutes remaining, Steels pulled one goal back when Aaron Moxam got his first league goal for the club.
Jordan Greaves then saved a crucial penalty to keep the score at 4-2 and give Stamford the muchdeserved victory. Carlton
Town’s Aaron Opoku scored a late wonder-strike to secure all three points for last season’s strugglers against Tadcaster Albion at the i2i Stadium.
The laboured Brewers enjoyed the majority of possession but not where it mattered as Carlton’s hunger and desire paid off to see a 2-0 victory away from home.
Taddy debutant Harrison Male, who signed from Leeds United on Friday, won’t have been happy with his part in the opening goal as the youngster misjudged a floating free-kick, allowing for Michael Robinson to tap in at the back post.
The win for the Millers was then sealed in the closing moments as Opoku bent a fantastic free-kick into the back of the net from 25 yards out.
Aaron Martin was the standout performer with a goal and an assist for Brighouse Town as they
defeated Gresley 2-0. Martin put a great ball over the defence after a quarter of an hour at St Giles Road, which Tom Robinson poked home to take the lead early on.
With only eight minutes remaining, Ousman Cham whipped in an out-swinging corner which was fired in by Martin at the back post to seal three points.
Elsewhere, it was a goal apiece between Cleethorpes Town and Spalding United at Linden Club. George Zeurner gave Spalding the lead after he finished off a slick move with an easy eight-yard tap in.
With just over 10 minutes left of play, Brody Robertson broke clear and rounded the keeper to slot home and equalise, sharing the spoils.
Aidan Chippendale got his first league goal for Ossett
United to help them overcome Loughborough
United 3-1 on the road, and followed it with another shortly after.
In a back and forth game at Nanpantan Sports Ground, Ossett saw a successful debut as a united Ossett Albion Ossett and Town team.
Chippendale opened the scoring on 26 minutes with a well-placed free kick, bagging his first goal in the Evo-Stik Northern East league for Ossett.
The No. 11 then found the net again only 12 minutes later to double the visitors’ lead after Jason Yates broke well and squared it for the striker to roll into the empty net.
Dynamo responded well after the break, as Dan Gordon slotted the ball cleverly past on-rushing Ossett keeper Leigh Overton to cut the deficit to just a single goal.
Overton then saved numerous chances to keep United’s lead safe with a man-of-the-match performance.
Adam Priestley then sealed the victory with a 90thminute free kick on the edge of the box, despite having Alex McQuade sent off ten minutes from time.
