RIVER RIDES TO THE RESCUE

- By Roy Mitchard

HIGH-FLYING Tiverton rescued a point with a late equaliser from River Allen after a quickfire brace from in form marksmen Mitchell Weiss had seen the hosts come from behind just after the hour mark.

After a goalless first half, goal centurion Levi Landicrombe gave the visitors the lead.

Earlier home keeper Charlie Burns had pulled off a couple of outstanding saves to deny ‘Tivvy’ who had the better of the early exchanges.

But it was Landricombe who broke the deadlock straight after the break latching on to a through ball just beating Burns to the ball.

Kings responded positively and a great strike from Weiss restored parity after a penetrating run by Ward had set the striker up.

The home side sensed an opportunity and Weiss’s deflected free kick then put the hosts in front and put them in sight of a notable victory.

That was until the late, late drama of River Allen’s free kick which found its way through the defensive wall to rescue a point for the visitors.
