DYNAMO’S LEAD CUT BY DETERMINED AMATEURS

- By Rob Bradley

ASTERLING comeback saw Lincoln come from two goals down to salvage a draw with Loughborough in a classic game of two halves.

Loughborough made a superb start taking the game to United and Ryan Robbins deservedly put them one up after a goalmouth scramble in the fourth minute. That lead was soon doubled on 21 minutes when a shot from distance by Karl Demidh clipped a home defender’s boot and rocketed into the top corner. Minutes later the home side’s prospects looked even bleaker after Josh Nichol received a straight red after a clash in the middle of the park, with the game seemingly done and dusted before the first half was even completed. Lincoln United brought on

Rob Norris and returning attacker Andy Hutchinson after half time and it was Hutchinson who game them a lifeline, scoring after the ball twice hit the woodwork. As the tide turned it was the home side’s turn to take the game to Loughborough and the equaliser soon followed with Matt Cotton jinking and crossing for centre-half James Blunden to power in a header. From then on it was blood and thunder football from both sides and chances created at each end, though that proved to be the end of the goal rush with a draw proving to be the fair result. Loughborough will be disappointed they didn’t capitalise on their half-time lead and United will be pleased to have shown character and come back so well in what was a competitive and incident-packed encounter that could have gone either way.
