SLIP UPS HELPFUL FOR CRAY

- By Mark Thorne

WHILE Cray Wanderers continued their perfect start to the Bostik South East season, the three other high flyers all slipped up. VCD Athletic went down to a 3-1 defeat at

East Grinstead Town as Karn Miller-Neave and Abodje Yao put the hosts in front at the break either side of Jonathan Adebayo’s effort.

George Landais then made sure of the points for the Wasps to leave the Vickers ruing the end of their 100 percent start. The same applied to

Hastings United who remain second in the standings but were caught out by a Zak Ansahinspired Hythe Town.

Ansah bagged a hattrick for the Cannons, notching twice in the first half and once in the second.

And even a late effort for Hassan Ibrahim was little consolation for the Arrows.

The third and final team to surrender their winning start to the season were Whyteleafe who went down to a 2-1 defeat to Sittingbourne.

Mobolaji Dawodu put the hosts in front in the 12th minute with a cool finish.

Tommie Fagg doubled the lead midway through the second half to put them seemingly out of sight.

Whytleafe did summon an immediate response through Marvin Armstrong but they could not find a leveller to slip to their first defeat of the season.

Reece Deakin was the hero for Greenwich Borough as they hit Guernsey for four to claim their second win of the campaign.

Teshuan Tyreece Walters put Borough in front in the first half from inside the box.

Then after the break Deakin turned on the style with a treble – notching in the 73rd, 89th and 92nd minutes to add some gloss to the scoreline.

Chris Smith scored the only goal of the game for

Horsham as they held on to down Herne Bay 1-0.

Smith struck midway through the second half to secure the Sussex side their second win of the season so far.

Meanwhile, Herne Bay are still searching for their first after an anaemic performance.

Ricky Freeman was the star of the show for

Whitstable Town, he scored once in each half as they produced an impressive 2-0 away victory at Phoenix Sports.

The home side slide to ninth in the standings with the defeat. They sit just ahead of

Ramsgate who produced a fine showing to down

Thamesmead Town 2-1. Harry Stannard put the hosts in front just before the half hour mark.

Bode Anidugbe levelled up proceedings just before the interval.

But Aaron Millbank struck just after the hour mark with what proved to be the winner and secured the Rams their second victory of the campaign.

Sevenoaks Town were left cursing Callum Saunders after his late double cost them their first victory of the season against Haywards Heath Town.

Alec Fiddes and Frankie Sawyer both scored in quick succession in the first half and it looked like Sevenoaks were going to cruise.

But Saunders notched in the 70th minute and again in the 85th to earn his side a share of the spoils.

Finally, Three Bridges are still winless and rooted to the bottom of the table after they were downed by Faversham

Town in a six-goal thriller.

Jensen Grant actually put the hosts in front in the first half as they claimed a shock lead.

But back came Faversham as Dean Grant and Jack Harris scored before Danny Walder’s penalty on the stroke of the interval.

Tyrone Berry pulled a goal back for the hosts before the hour mark in style.

Yet Grant made it a double at the death to lift the visitors up to sixth in the table with the top teams five games in.
