OMARI’S ALREADY A HIT FOR THE STAGS

- By Kane Brooker

WALTON Casuals picked up their first win of the season in empathic style after knocking three past Supermarine’s Josh Hill.

The Stags were without important figures in Alex Kelly and Jayden Antwi, who are both on trial at professional clubs, but rallied round with a dominant firsthalf display to move out of the drop zone.

After an even start, in which Omari DelgadoHibbert should have put the hosts in front inside five minutes, the Stags took the lead on 31 minutes with captain Joe Hicks pouncing on a block from Delgado-Hibbert’s initial attempt.

Recent signing Delgado-Hibbert made no mistake just seven minutes later when beating Hill with a tidy finish, and with confidence flowing for the hosts, he extended his side’s lead a minute before the break.

It was all Marine after the restart though, the visitors trying their best to break Walton down.

Connor McDonagh saw his header cleared off the line just one minute into the second half, and Ryan Cambell also watched his effort cleared.

Swindon did manage to find a breakthrough courtesy of McDonough in the 74th minute – the forward tapped home from a low-driven cross – but it proved too little, too late as the Casuals took a first win at step three.
